A dramatic incident occurred at a car wash in Asaba, Delta State, when a new attendant reportedly vanished with a customer’s vehicle valued at N38 million.
As per eyewitness accounts, who posted a video online, the car owner left his car and handed over the keys to the attendant, completely unaware that the individual had been employed just three days prior.
After feigning a car wash, the attendant allegedly jumped into the driver’s seat, pretending to reverse the vehicle, only to take off at high speed and disappear without a trace. The luxury car, which has no tracking device installed, has not been located as of this report. Meanwhile, the car wash owner has been taken into custody by the police for questioning.
An eyewitness who shared the story on social media cautioned vehicle owners against leaving their keys with attendants, highlighting that such events have occurred several times in Asaba. He also urged business owners to conduct thorough background checks on new employees before hiring, recalling that he once lost two iPhones to a newly recruited shop attendant who fled with the items shortly after starting work.
